NSCN Celebrates 6th Anniversary

Over the past year, NSCN enhanced our approach to nursing regulation to better meet the evolving needs of our health system and the diverse communities we serve. We actively explored new opportunities to modernize our work, leverage resources more strategically and foster a culture of innovation—always with the public interest at our core.

Starting in 2026, NP education programs across Canada (except Quebec) will prepare NP graduates to practice with all clients and all practice settings using a common set of Entry-level Competencies and a new common exam know as the Canadian NP licensure Exam (CNPLE). Current students in the Family All Ages Program at Dalhousie University will not be impacted and will continue to write the CNPE, no changes are being made to the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program (NNP) and there will be no change for NPs currently in practice.
