Nursing jurisprudence is the application and interpretation of laws as they relate to nursing practice, including nurse-client obligations and relationships with other nurses and health care professionals.
Understanding jurisprudence supports nurses in practising safely, ethically and competently. It helps nurses understand regulatory policies; provincial and federal legislation and their accountabilities related to them.
As of March 25, 2026, all applicants and registrants reactivating their licence are required to review the Jurisprudence Resource Guide and complete the online Jurisprudence Declaration of Completion confirming they have reviewed the guide.
This is a mandatory requirement for registration and licensure. We cannot process your application until we receive the form. There is no fee associated with this requirement.
