This week, from May 11–17, we are proud to celebrate National Nursing Week and all nurses in Nova Scotia and across Canada for the critical role you play in supporting the well-being of patients, our communities, and the health care system.
This year’s theme, the Power of Nurses to Transform Health, highlights the incredible impact nurses have in shaping health care, driving innovation, and advocating for patient-centred care. We see evidence of this in your ongoing commitment to safe nursing practice. Whether you practice in a large hospital, a rural clinic, a long-term care home, or any other setting, your commitment to safe, competent, ethical, and compassionate care has an impact on every patient and family you support.
As Nova Scotia’s nursing regulator, we value the care and commitment you bring every day to protect patients and strengthen public trust in the profession of nursing.
This Nursing Week, I hope you have an opportunity to reflect on the impact you have on the lives of Nova Scotians and to be reminded of the value of your impactful contributions.
On behalf of the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Board and staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication to the nursing profession and to all Nova Scotians.
With gratitude and respect,
Douglas Bungay, MN RN
