With the upcoming transition to the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and the creation of a new multi-profession regulator, we are seeking registered midwives to serve on statutory committees, including:

  • Complaints Committee
  • Fitness to Practise Committee
  • Registration and Licensing Committee

Statutory committees play an important role in regulating health professions. The new Committees will be made up of midwives, nurses, and members of the public, who will make objective decisions related to the registration and licensing, practice and conduct of midwives and nurses in Nova Scotia. Registrant applicants must hold a practising licence in Nova Scotia to be eligible for appointment.

Committee members will have the opportunity to engage in the public interests and to connect with other committee members from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. In addition to a structured orientation, training opportunities will be provided throughout the year to support ongoing learning and development.

If you are a registered midwife interested in participating in statutory committees to support strong decision-making in the public interest, we encourage you to please read the full recruitment notice and submit an expression of interest to communications@nscn.ca by June 12th.
