August 26, 2025

The Board and staff of the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) are proud to share that our CEO and Registrar, Douglas Bungay, was recently recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) as the first ever recipient of the prestigious Catalyst Award.

The Catalyst Award is a new honour recognizing individuals who spark change and transformation in nursing regulation and is given for significant contributions to nursing regulation at any level.

“This award celebrates Doug’s ongoing leadership in nursing regulation and the positive impact this has on Nova Scotia’s health care system and the public,” says NSCN Board Chair, Alana Baxter. “Doug is a genuine and collaborative leader with extensive regulatory insight and proven leadership abilities. He inspires those who work closely with him, and the NSCN Board couldn’t be prouder that he has received this distinguished recognition.”

Doug received the NCSBN Catalyst Award on August 14, 2025, at a formal NCSBN award ceremony along with his international regulatory peers.
