Change Personal Information

As a self-regulated professional, it is your responsibility to ensure that your name, contact and employment information is up-to-date on our records. If at any time you need to change your personal information, there is an easy and efficient way to do this online or through email.

Updating Your Contact and Employment Information

Log into the LPN Registrant Portal using your registration number and password. If you hold a licence with NSCN, the data from the current licensure year will auto populate into the various fields. You can then click “edit” to make the necessary changes to your contact and employment information and click “save” once complete. 

Request a Name Change

If you have changed your legal name, please mail or email us a clear copy of the supporting documentation for the name change (e.g. marriage certificate, change of name certificate) and include your new name and registration number.

If you are requesting a change of your legal name through email, please follow these steps:

  1. Email registration@nscn.ca with your registration number, the name we currently have on file for you and your new legal name; and
  2. Attach a clear copy of the supporting documentation for the name change (e.g. marriage certificate, change of name certificate). We can only accept documentation that is in a PDF, DOCX, DOC or JPG type files. 

If you are requesting a change of your legal name through mail, please follow these steps:

  1. Send a letter containing your registration number, the name we currently have on file for you and your new legal name to:
    Nova Scotia College of Nursing
    300-120 Western Parkway
    Bedford, Nova Scotia, B4B 0V2
  2. Include a clear copy of the supporting documentation for the name change in the envelope (e.g. marriage certificate, change of name certificate).

If you are returning to the use of your birth name please submit a copy of your birth certificate by mail or email. 

Updating Your Contact Information

Log into the RN and NP Registrant Portal using your registration number and password. If you hold a licence with NSCN, the data from the current licensure year will auto populate into the various fields. You can then make the necessary changes to your contact information and click “update” once complete. 

Request a Name Change

If you have changed your legal name, there are two ways to make this change

  1. Through the portal
  2. By mail or email

No documentation is required if you are returning to the use of your birth name. Contact us at registration@nscn.ca if you would like to return to using your birth name. 

If you are requesting a change of your legal name through the portal, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into the RN and NP Registrant Portal using your registration number and password. If you are having trouble logging into the portal, please follow the directions on the portal homepage.  
  2. Email registration@nscn.ca with the name we currently have on file for you as well as your new legal name; and
  3. Upload a clear copy of the supporting documentation for the name change (e.g. marriage certificate, change of name certificate) in the portal. We can only accept documentation that is in a PDF, DOCX, DOC or JPG type files.
