The Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses promote, direct, regulate, and shape the professional practice of all RNs and NPs in all practice settings in Nova Scotia. The standards set out the legal and professional requirements for nursing practice and describe the level of performance expected of RNs in their practice. There are 5 overarching standards which are further defined by a series of indicators. By ensuring high quality nursing practice, these standards protect the health and safety of the public.
