Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses in Canada

The Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses promote, direct, regulate, and shape the professional practice of all LPNs in all practice settings in Nova Scotia. The standards set out the legal and professional requirements for nursing practice and describe the level of performance expected of LPNs in their practice.

There are 4 overarching standards and each standard has indicators describing more specifically the expectations for LPN practice. By ensuring high quality nursing practice, these standards protect the health and safety of the public.
