Nurse Practitioner Client Admission and Discharge from Hospital Settings

Comprehensive health care often requires a client to move within and across the healthcare continuum, from hospital-based environments to community settings. Effective April 22, 2022, the Hospital Act authorizes Nurse Practitioners to admit clients to hospital settings.  We developed this practice guideline to help nurse practitioners understand their professional accountabilities related to client admission and discharge, including their professional, individual and employment scope of practice.
