Medical Assistance in Dying A Practice Guideline for NPs

The Criminal Code envisions that medical assistance in dying (MAiD) can be provided by either a nurse practitioner (NP) or physician. Since failing to comply with the conditions contained in the Criminal Code could result in a conviction, we developed this practice guideline to help NPs understand their professional accountabilities with respect to MAiD.
