Licence Renewal Opening Soon
The licence renewal period for the 2025-2026 year opens in less than a month on August 20th! To be eligible to practice on November 1, 2025, you must renew your licence before the renewal period closes on October 31, 2025.
Important Dates to Remember In 2025
August 20: First day to renew your licence.
October 9: Deadline to be entered into the early bird licence renewal contest.
October 31: Deadline to renew your licence.
November 1: First day of the new licensure year.

- We are seeking feedback on proposed amendments to the By-laws with respect to the anticipated future regulation of Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs). Participate in our consultation by August 23. Submit your feedback.
- Registration is open for our Supporting Professional Practice in Nursing Workshop in Millbrook! This in-person workshop is open to those supporting nurses in professional practice in Nova Scotia only.
- July’s practice support tool is the Harm Reduction Approach in Substance Use Q&A, which helps nurses understand their regulatory accountabilities related to integrating harm reduction approaches for safe, competent, ethical and compassionate nursing care.
- Reminder: LPNs and RNs are invited to complete the entry-level competencies survey. All LPNs and RNs received an email with the survey link on July 16. The deadline to participate is August 15.
- To shape the future of NSCN’s work and to support the application of right-touch regulation, NSCN developed new Regulatory Guiding Principles, which are rooted in the philosophy of right-touch regulation.
