Changes to Our Conditional Licence Expiration Notification Process

NSCN will be implementing some changes to our conditional licence expiration notification process.

Over the last number of years, as a courtesy NSCN has notified both employers and nurses when their conditional licence is nearing expiration.  As a self-regulated professional, all nurses are responsible to know when their license expires and to ensure they have a current licence practise.

NSCN is discontinuing the practice of notifying nurses and employers of pending conditional license expiration effective November 17, 2023.

Nurses, regardless of their license type, have always been responsible to advise their employer of the expiration date of the nursing license. We will continue to stress the importance of this practice. We also encourage employers to keep licence expiration information with the nurse’s employment records. You can also see the expiration date of any nurse’s license by using the Search a Nurse function on the NSCN website.

We will continue the practice of advising the employer when a nurse is no longer eligible for conditional licensure because they have exceeded the number of attempts on their registration and licensing exam.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to registration@nscn.ca.
