HST Added to LPN Fee: Notice

June 10, 2020

Each year, all nurses must submit an application and pay a fee in order to be eligible to practise nursing in Nova Scotia. This fee includes professional liability insurance and a renewal fee. Starting this year, all NSCN registration, licensure and administrative fees must also include a harmonized sales tax (HST).

The addition of HST changes the 2021 licensed practical nurse (LPN) licence renewal fee by $48.75, of which these funds will be provided to the government for the sale of goods and services.

It is important to note that the NSCN portion of the renewal fee for the 2021 licensure year has not increased for LPNs or for any other designation.

NSCN 2020 LPN Licensure Renewal: licensure fee + insurance = $325.00 Total

NSCN 2021 LPN Licensure Renewal: licensure fee + insurance = $325.00 + $48.75 HST = $373.75 Total

Nurses on payroll deduction are aware of this change and the proper amounts for the 2021 licensure year have been deducted from their account.

More information about fees is available on our website here. If you have any questions, please contact us at registration@nscn.ca.
