Modifications of Scope Related to Naloxone

Naloxone is a medication that blocks or reverses the effects of opioids and is used to treat overdose in an emergency situation. RNs and LPNs are authorized to administer naloxone as a life-saving measures and provide take-home naloxone kits under their own authority. We developed this Fact Sheet to help nurses understand their accountabilities and scope of practice related to naloxone.
