A Register contains the list of LPNs, RNs and/or NPs who are registered. It is important to know that being on a register does not authorize someone to practise as a nurse.
In order to legally provide nursing services in Nova Scotia a nurse must hold a licence. You can find this information under "Category of Licence". If the category of licence shows:
1. LPN/RN/NP - Practising means the nurse can provide nursing services in Nova Scotia
2. LPN/RN/NP - Conditional means the nurse has conditions and restrictions on their current nursing licence. The conditions and/or restrictions will be shown in the "Essential information" field
3. Not licensed means the nurse is not currently authorized to provide nursing services in Nova Scotia.
If there is information under the "Decisions and Outcomes" heading, it means the nurse has a professional conduct history. An agreement, informal resolution, undertaking, decision or order made in a regulatory process under the former LPN or RN Act remains in effect under the Nursing Act and with the same terms and conditions.
